Winter Relief Drive: Providing Warmth to Delhi's Homeless

The Harsh Reality of Delhi Winters
Between December and February, temperatures in the national capital frequently dip to as low as 3ยฐC, accompanied by dense fog and freezing winds. For thousands of daily-wage migrants, rickshaw pullers, and destitute elderly sleeping on pavements, under bridges, and outside railway terminals, winter is not a season of comfortโit is a life-threatening ordeal.
Midnight Drives of Compassion
To ensure aid reaches those who truly need it most, our Seva Squad operates nocturnal distribution rounds between 11:00 PM and 3:00 AM. During these quiet hours, our teams navigate footpaths across West and Central Delhi to identify vulnerable rough sleepers exposed to severe hypothermia.
We provide:
- Heavy-Duty Thermal Blankets: Thick, insulated double-ply blankets designed to withstand harsh northern winter nights.
- Thermal Woolens & Jackets: Warm sweaters, beanies, gloves, and socks suited for cold night shifts.
- Hot Nutritional Meals: Freshly cooked khichdi and warm halwa to provide immediate caloric sustenance.
A Dignified Approach to Giving
At GIW Foundation, we hold that charity without dignity is empty. Our volunteers take time to converse with recipients, listen to their stories, and ensure that every item is handed over with genuine respect and warmth.
